Speedometer error or VSS problem ?
Recently when I was logging a bunch of stuff using my brand new OBD2 reader, I noticed that the vehicle speed that obd2 was reporting was not the same as what was on the speedometer.
I know there is usually a % error in the speedometer but this is like 6-10%! The error was more at speeds over 40mph. It was as much as 5mph!
Yes the tires are the right size and correctly inflated - not over or under.
I have yet to verify which one is correct but I feel the speedometer is wrong and the vss is fine. Is this a common problem ? Is there a fix for it ?

there is a current class action lawsuit over this matter, the federal standard is +/- 5%. So if your speedo reads high there are more miles being racked up on the odometer, which leads to premature devaluation of your car because of excessive miles.

Re: Speedometer error or VSS problem ? (hondadude)
are you serious ?
well I tried searching but the only substantial information I could find about this was this lone thread on superhonda.com and that too refers to '02-'06 vechicles.

Mine's a '99 (see sig).
do you have any link or something where there is more info about this ? I doubt the dealer will give me straight answer.
Either way, if its not covered by lawsuit or recall, is this fixable ? (other than replacing the speedometer/odometer)
Thanks!
