Default Replace torque converter seal?

Replacing my 250K-mile wagon's auto trans with a 150K trans out of a '97 EX coupe. Nothing wrong with the old trans but high miles & I'm doing an F23 swap and want the coupe's higher final drive for the highway.

Read MAD_MIKES's excellent how to remove the trans??? post and he recommends a new torque converter O-ring. I'll replace the O-ring, but how about the torque converter seal itself? Replace since I've go the trans out, or look at it and if it's not leaking, leave it alone? #16 I'm guessing:

I'm one of those that goes with this......do I want to do this work again because X decides to leak. Heck I'd replace the rear main just because I'm almost looking right at it-remove the flex plate and there she is.

So yes, that seal plus the rear main and both cv shaft seals.

Of course that is just me.....humm, now that I think about it, happen to be the same "Roader" on other sites?

Thanks, Lost. Pulled the trans out of the coupe today and took a look at that seal. Looks easy enough. I'll replace it and the other seals you mentioned. I'm doing a TB/water pump while the F23 is hanging in the garage so I might as well replace the front seals too.

That's me over at Unauthorized Accord and occasionally at the Accord Wagon Club. What your user name at UA?

I didn't bother with the seal, just the O ring. The seal will show if its bad, and can be a 'might-as-well-since-I'm-in-here' thing. But the O-ring, especially if its a trans that has been sitting, could be bad and you would not be able to tell.

Another thing. Remove the NM and NC sensors, make sure they are free and clear of buildup and replace the O rings on those. Those two sensors control shift points and converter lockup. If they are fouled with ferrous material they will not create a proper signal and shifting will be harsh and TC lockup may not occur.

Haven't heard of that one - Unauthorized Accord. I thought you might be the same on Honda Accord Forum.

Thanks, Mike. I'll put those O-rings on my Majestic order.
