help disassemble trans
i recently broke a big chunk of alluminum that my trans bolts bolt to, on my trans and i wanted to know whats needed (seals, special tools, torque specs) to disassemble the trans and bellhousing to put a new bellhousing on it.
is this a 5-speed or an auto?
im gonna assume its a 5-speed
-3 qts HONDA mtf
-new clutch if its old, with throw out bearing and pilot bearing
-resurface/new flywheel
-recommend doing a rear engine crank seal, there like 4 dollars just do it!
-input shaft seal
-both axle seals
-tub of trans assembly lube
-aluminum crush washers for certain bolts, usually honda will give them to u if you're nice
-2 cotter pins for shift linkages
-tube of copper RTV for trans case re-assembly
-possibly replace youre syncro blocking rings if they appear damaged, (the copper round parts that speed match your gears) if the inside of them feel about sharp enough to cut you then there ok, if there dull or damaged at all REPLACE all of them!
its late and i may of forgotten a thing or two, but i think thats all. i just rebuilt mine 2 months ago, as for special tools go, i used all normal hand tools and snap-ring pliers.
i have torque specs in my barn out back, if u need them PM me ill dig them outta my garage.
there not that hard to rebuild, go for it!

thanks, yes it's a m2b4 lsd, is there any books to kinda guide me, my haynes manual doesn't help,
will it be harder to get parts for the m2b4 and where would i get them
will it be harder to get parts for the m2b4 and where would i get them
vey informative, guide. but now im a little comnfused, i thought the bellhousing was just a case/cover and i could remove the case and switch it with the other that was not broken. i did not realize the bell housing had all the gears conneced to it i thpught it was the other way around, or is it just the b series (referring to the pics in post)
my trans is broke where the rear motor mount (L bracket) bolts to the trans, the bolts ripped the threaded portion out of the side of the case

yea the bell-housing is pretty much the whole trans case, if you want to swap it out you'll have to completely take everything out and put it in the new bell-housing.
my recommendation is to see if you can get a good used/re-man transmission and swap out your LSD if it dosent have one in it, cuz thats pretty easy to do just a matter of taking out the main shafts in the transmission.
good luck

i always thought the jdm m2b4 lsd would only go into another m2b4 caseing, because these trans are bigger in order to fit the lsd so therefore the jdm lsd would not go into a non sld caseing/trans
but yeah i guess ill just have to fork out the money for another trans, but its hard/expensive to find another lsd trans, and i really like how straight my car pulls with the lsd, and i dont really want to go back to torque steer

the helms manual does a pretty good job of explaining the assembly/dissassembly. theres alot of measuring involved too, especially when swapping cases.
