I'll give you $10,000 if you can do 190mph in your Accord like you say you can. Don't forget, the fastest purpose built topspeed Honda in the world runs 204.278mph and the fastest daily driven Honda in the world runs 175.42mph.
You wanna drop a digit from your claimed top speed now?

I would say he's talking 180-185kph (115 mph) as well. to reading comprehension and worldly intelligence.

To the original poster, get a Fields SFC/Vtec controler. You can use that to bypass the speed limiter. This is what i'm using on my 98 CL running a JDM H23 VTEC w/ JDM obd2b PCB ecu and it works perfectly. $125 on ebay, case closed

It's funny how nobody here knows the answer to this guy's question, so everyone jumps in about how unsafe driving at those speeds are. If you don't know the answer, no need to impose your opinions on the guy. You guys are worse than a group of bible thumpers tossing religion at random strangers.
Sorry if I got your panties all in a twist there fellas

Re: Removing speed governor
My apologies for not paying attention to the 180 guy's location, I didn't even bother to notice he's in Nova Scotia.
I think it was pretty obvious that you didn't know the answer. Also, you owe me a new pair of panties because when they bunched up, unwashable skidmarks formed on the backside.
You can grab me a pair at http://www.manties.net
Once you purchase them, send them to TheMuffinMan to give to me, he knows where I live.

Re: Removing speed governor
I think they're all set at 130mph, same as pretty much every other Honda of that time but some of them run out of power before they could reach that speed. My Integra sedan would run out of power at about 110mph, but when I took the spoiler off, it went up to 127mph with little crosswinds on a hot summer day. Accelerating from 115-127mph took about 7-8 minutes, but 0-114 went by pretty quick. Safest cruising speed in that car was 105-110mph with a spoiler, without a spoiler the car would be all over the place. I've taken a CB7 up to 115mph where it ran out of power and I think I peaked around the 117-119mph mark, but anything over 90mph didn't feel too safe because it was stock suspension and there wasn't a spoiler out back to stabilize the body during crosswinds.

OP, you can socket and chip an ECU to remove the governor, you could also run a piggyback management system, or standalone, but either way, your ECU has to be programmable somehow in order to remove the governor. It probably won't make a huge difference though because your car is going to run out of juice in the high mile per hour range unless you've got supporting mods than can push your car beyond 130mph. Intake, Header, and Exhaust aren't going to cut it either, so if those standard Accord ricer mods are on your agenda, then I wouldn't even bother messing with it.

Nope, trust me, the DX is limited to 114/115mph. I tried like a retard and thankfully didn't kill anyone. It kills power to the motor and leaves you at like ~90mph.
And I do know how to do it - I did it with both my cars at one point. And with both motors.

Re: Removing speed governor
i mean yeah obviously a piggyback will kill the governor, but i would be worried about other things before that. the tires; are they rated to go that high, because when you get to speeds like that, it can take quite a while to keep pushing, and those tires will heat up quite fast. Also, brakes, as mentioned before, obviously should be upgraded in case of an emergency or anything like that, and suspension, to keep the body from getting all "squirly" haha.
having said that, i agree with everyone else. keep it off the public roads my man. is not worth it.

Re: Removing speed governor
I think the general concensus here is what's the point? I personally am not a rule-sy person, but what kinda of racing are you doing where you need it to breach past your governor?

Re: Removing speed governor
is yours an ex? someone said that ex's don't have one... i dont think thats legal in the us though, so i don't really believe it. i'll let you guys know if i ever come up with a reason to push my ex past 114. i am pretty sure all cars sold in the us have to come equipped from the factory with a governor. i'm not even sure its legal to remove the governor, i've never heard anything about that though

Re: Removing speed governor
Your question and mine are the same yukemo na sicu mi cha zichi yo...any wayz I got to thinking on this and it can be done. Keep in mine if you want to beat these guys in a race u can blow out the comp with a 3 grand supercharger simple install...with NOS include this. get the innercooler setup...the full pakage runs u about 6500.00 This can get u to flip your wig and keep up with me...hee hee...no you have to change all your intakes and heads have to be changed to racing specs...top speed will boost u to about 190 mph after that u blow up...also u have to lose some of the weight your car has on...about 200lbs. quick as hell. MODIFY IT.
I thought removing the sensor just takes out the speed indicator? I also thought that the govenor is hooked up else where on the tranny, meaning that there is another sensor built in the tranny that relays a signal to the computer to cut out? Speed sensor and gov are different are they not?
