Default removing manual transmission in 2000

all the bolts are off -

How hard do i have to bang on the tranny to get it to drop?

Should it just drop easily?

I have a lift holding it up, so it wont just drop vs the redneck jack and block of wood

Unless i missed a bolt?

You have to pull it out so the splines clear the crank. Put a pillow on the ground so you can just let it fall.

On the backside of the engine there are quite a few 17mm bolts holding the rear mounting bracket to the engine, some holding the bracket to the transmission and there is one or two that hold the transmission to engine directly, your going to want to make sure you got them all. It is easy to miss bolts back there, especially the ones that hold the engine to the transmission directly (there might only be 1 of these, I don't have much newer accord experience) Don't be afraid to use a prybar to separate the engine from the transmission but keep in mind its all about the "pressures" you apply both in force and direction, you want to apply force while "checking" at the same time. If you feel like your applying to much pressure you probably are. We want to avoid cracking at all costs. There are two dowel pins used for alignment that tend to corrode in place and can hold things up, if you see those try prying there. The other tip I have is playing with the height of your jack that is under the trans, it makes a big difference in getting the transmission input shaft to be in a "neutral" position. Also check you've undone the ground wire, the vehicle speed sensor harness, the shift linkage and obviously all the bolts and axles. On the install: make sure you have a clutch alignment tool, they can be made from ratchet extensions, a socket and some tape but most clutch kits come with one. Also don't let the transmission input shaft rest on the clutch disc's input splines, you can damage the clutch so just get the thing ready to go, everything out of the way then push and wiggle the trans on with the jack level.

There's always one bolt that attaches to a bracket in the back of the engine that can easily get missed.

OK...i missed a bolt ! near the oil filter hiding in the back...

Now the issue is how to actually drop the tranny - should it fit between the subframe or do i have to remove that as well?

all the videos dont show the actual dropping part.

Right now my engine hoist is holding it up

thnx

Normally you gotta remove the radius rod for the tranny to clear.

Just crawl underneath and look up. See if it looks like it's going to clear. If not, you know what you have to disconnect but it should clear. You basically gotta wiggle back and forth a tad to get it out of the two dowel pins, then you gotta pull it out while holding it up to clear the input shaft from the crank, then you kinda just let it drop on an old pillow. Trust me this is the easiest way. Get a pillow under there that you don't need and just drop it on it.

Obviously you have to have the tranny mount off.

Drop the subframe and be done with it........just make a few marks on the subframe to body so when you go back it will be aligned. It looks like the radius rod on the pass side has been removed....be sure to remove the other one....better to remove the two bolts towards the rear of the car than the one at the front.
