Power Window Problem
Hi all,
Just recently, my drivers door lock actuator has gone bonkers.
Now, my drivers power window is freakin out. It goes up but at the end it goes off track and does not close properly. There is a gap in the upper left corner right above the door lock. The only way I can get it to close is to push the window towards that gap as it closes to keep it on track.
Anyone know whats wrong. Is it the motor, the track itself, or something else ???
Pls any advise is welcomed.
Also is it a do it yourself or not ?
MANY THANKS
JEFF

Re: Power Window Problem (96 Accord Ex V6)
sounds like a problem with the track
the only way to really asses what the problem is by going under the door panel, which would have to be done anyway to fix it
look for loose bolts on the channels or material clogging the channels
there could be something loose inside the door jamming against the glass
has the door been slammed recently, hard enough to bend some linkage or moving a part?
what are the symptoms of the door lock, i have the shop and electronics manual and might be able to help you out

Re: Power Window Problem (urbanlegend21)
Hey Urban.
The lock problem is that the door continually tries to lock itself. If I were to lock the drivers door (engine on or off) the lock mechanism isnt getting the message that it is locked, so it keeps clicking every 10 seconds or so in an attempt to lock itself. Other HT members have told me thats the lock actuator.
any ideas ?????
thanks
JEFF

Re: Power Window Problem (96 Accord Ex V6)
you must replace your door lock actuator,as far as your window you have 2 choices, remove your door panel and reinstall your window in track and lube the tracks with silicone spray or replace your probable bent regulator.the reason it messed up in the first place is if youve noticed the window had been going up slow, right. keep your tracks lubed and this problem wont reacure later.

Re: Power Window Problem (yolooky)
although I think you are more than likely correct he could also have a loose ground on his power door locks than when moved activates them, but I digress since it sounds like you know more about this than me

I've had this problem. It's pretty weird and doesn't even seem like it would be a bad actuator... but it really is... the part is cheap... i replaced mine and everything was cool.
