Power door lock problem

Power door lock problem
Hi, new to honda-tech. I got an problem with my power door locks on my 94 accord, I have an aftermarket alarm installed and it's a Viper Model 350HV, it will arm/disarm the alarm but wont unlock or lock the doors. I do however hear a small sound everytime I hit the unlock/lock button on my keyfob, also the same when I hit the switch on the driver and passenger doors. Also I noticed that even unlocking the door with my key it's hard to turn. I'm thinking it's the relay but then again it could be the alarm but cannot come to a conclusion.

Re: Power door lock problem
i have the same problem too on the same 94 accord with alarm and i hear the small noise too. does yours unlock/lock with the door switch? because mine doesn't, only weird thing is that it'll start working after 2 or 3 days then stop again. i took it to a shop and they told me it was the door lock motor but i'm not too convinced. i would like for this to be answered as well. any way of checking it?

Actuator is probably stuck. It's common in the early models for the plastic gear to slip off track (inside the actuator).
If you are mechanically inclined, pull it off the window motor, take apart the actuator and look inside. Make sure the plastic gear is on track correctly and not spun-off the gear path.

Re: Power door lock problem
im going to wait until you get it done humanikid. i want to see what it really is before spending money on it because i just spent quite a bit of money on replacing the turn signal switch, fixing my driver side power window, gauges, and brake lines.

Re: Power door lock problem
so i thought about this a little more through and i think they're right about it being the door lock control module because the alarm i have doesn't have relays that interfere with the relays on the car. it's a transistorized type of thing that triggers the relays within the car.

Re: Power door lock problem
Hey guys. Did you ever figure this out on your locks? I have the same problem - remote quit working, and the locks make a sound when I hit the button inside and sometimes they move a little but that's it. Luckily I haven't locked my keys in...yet. lol
Thanks, guys.
Thanks, guys.

Re: Power door lock problem
I think the remotes battery needs to be changed. My problem was the door lock control unit and just changed it out with a new one, it might be your door lock unit or you might need to change your actuators.

Re: Power door lock problem
i would suggest looking at the door lock control module inside the drivers door panel. thats what was wrong with mine. i bought the door actuator and it didnt solve the problem. its a orange o black box. GL

Re: Power door lock problem
I had this same issue with my 94 Accord. I was able to fix it with out having to purchase any new parts. These are pretty low tech electronics which are pretty durable, but after many years the solder joints go bad. I removed mine and pulled the circuit board from the enclosure. I noticed that there was a cracked solder joint on one of the pins for the relay. I re-soldered all the joints around the relay and now it is as good as new. Problem solved and it was only the cost of some solder.

Re: Power door lock problem
I own a 92 Honda Accord Wagon EX with the same issue. The location of my inter-lock control module (38380-SM4-A02) is located beneath the drivers seat. When I try to unlock the doors I heard the clicking so I removed the unit and took it apart to investigate problem. I didn't notice any apparent trouble with circuit board. I reconnected the door switch located on drivers side door jam and experienced a new trouble. If I try to lock the doors manually the door locks go crazy. I have replaced the drivers door switch so I know it is not a driver door switch issue. I saw a post on this thread, I think, where the doors were locking/unlocking. My problem is two-fold: Doors will unlock with no problem from drivers door switch. Doors will not lock from same location. Second problem: If I try to lock doors manually, doors will go crazy and lock/unlock. The second trouble started when I reconnected the door jam switch. But now the driver courtesy lamp works and the car lights up when I open the door. LMAO!!! Any ideas would be appreciated. I suspect I may have wiring trouble and that is gonna be a nightmare.

Re: Power door lock problem
Got the same prob in my 90 Accord... digging around today, and found a green abd blue wire pair neer the fuse box, and when they were grounded out, they actuated the locks... maybe you all could have the same pulled wires? Now im off to try and find where they go. Good luck guys!
