Default Is It Possible To Take Off the Turbo Charger??? And Still Drive The Car???

Hey, just wondering if you can take off the turbo charger, and save some gas, like in the winter when i won't be speeding around, and i don't need the turbo charger spinning down for 10 mins everytime i park my car. can i run the car with it off? if so do i have to modify anything?

Are you serious? I am contemplating if you actually just asked that or if you are joking. NO you cannot take it off. If you are worried about it during the winter then you should buy a beater and drive that and leave the accord at home.

nothing wrong with the question but i would really beg you to learn more about turbo before getting boost, i mean, this is some pretty down to the basic concept.

actually.... he can remove the charge pipe and install a short ram intake and keep the turbo in place and let it blow boost all over your engine bay and sound like a blowdryer.. hehe

and you'll be dumping out expensive gasoline for nothing, not to mention the ringland damage you might cause.

it's not guessing, you know it will or will not work if you know enough about the subject.

WTF u talkn bout. its been done plenty of times. some *****s who build there motors end up running without a turbo at 1st until they save up enough money.

but to answer your question. just slap on some stock headers and intake, what other mods do you have on your car? any engine management? sounds like alot of werk , really should of thought about this before you went turbo. u want to play u have to pay. remember that.

i suggest opening the wastegate all teh way so it never sees boost, that way you can run without an issue.
the other option is to swap a header and stock intake on, if you dont mind doing the partial insntall and removal a few times a year its a fine idea to pursue.

the problem with that is that the wastegate comes with a spring that is preset to a particular amount of boost...

hmm no..

he'll over rev the turbo to hell

take off the turbo plug up the oil lines put on your stock manifold and a filter on your charge pipe and go on your merry way.

Heres a straight answer, take the turbo off put the stock manifold on, and cap off your oil lines so they dont leak.

That's not a dumb question. You can do it, if your car is low compression with out the turbo it will be a "turtle", you would just have to adjust your fuel system and close off the oil line, and put the stock header back on.
