parking brake light tied to clutch?
I have a '94 Accord LX in which the dash brake light stays on now when the parking brake is released but will dim as the clutch is depressed and goes out once fully depressed. It comes back on when I release the clutch. This issue has been building as I first thought the parking brake switch was simply sticking and chose to ignore it. For a while the dash light would go out once I started working through the gears so I thought vibration was working the switch free. However, this clutch thing has me puzzled. Why does the light go off when I fully depress the clutch and why does it dim as I apply?
The car also has instances wherein the radio and windows still work after the key is out so I think that is a bad ignition switch. The only other electrical change in the car that I am aware of is an aftermarket deck.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: parking brake light tied to clutch?
Hi,
I have basically the same problem.
1994 Accord LX
5 Speed
Usually when I first start the car in the morning or after I've let the car sit somewhere and restart. The "Brake" light on the dash will stay on.
My parking brake is released and it's switch works correctly.
My brake fluid resivour is full and it's magnetic switch works correctly.
When I press the clutch in, when it's almost all the way to the floor, the "Brake" light will then go out. Sometimes when I release the clutch, it will then come back on. But if when I push it almost to the floor and the light goes out, some times I hear a click like a relay some where behind the dash. Once I hear that click, I know that once I then release the clutch the light will no longer come back on (until the cycle starts afresh the next time).
I've tried using jumper wires and sutch on the 2 switches that are directly engaged by the clutch pedal. To my understanding, one is so you have to have the clutch pressed down to get the starter to engage. The other is to turn on the cruise control.
I've seen this problem posted here and on other message boards but never with a definitive proven answer.
I know somebody else out there has encountered this anomoly and knows the answer. Please share your wisdome with us. Thanks!!!

Re: parking brake light tied to clutch?
Still researching:
- Might have something to do with the bulb check circuit?
- Might be caused by something wrong with the ignition switch?
Awaiting help from those with the wisdom.

Re: parking brake light tied to clutch?
I have 94 Accord LX Stick shift. It has the very same problem. E-brake light stays on at ALL times until i press the clutch down all the way down which it will then shut off until i release the clutch. I checked brake fluid level, cleaned the brake fluid filter, checked the sensor on the E-brake. Everything checks out good Fluid was not low filter was clean sensor is connected firmly. I have called a couple dealerships and mechanics and they have never heard of it. i dont want to pay for a fix i can do myself. If anyone has had this problem I would greatly appreciate help. Thank you

Re: parking brake light tied to clutch?
i have pulled the console apart an check the e-brake switch. before i did that i was looking at the tension of the e-brake lever itself. but it is fine. if it was a short where would i dig for it? as the wire for the e-brake switch goes under the shifter and into the dash.. would i have to tear into the dash to check it?

Re: parking brake light tied to clutch?
The clutch switch is an input to the ecu and it is also necessary to engage the starter. Check the clutch switch now. It should have two heads. Then I would follow that wire.
