oil change and additives
this is my first time here in norther michigan so i would like my honda accord '90 Lx be ready for the winter season... i just got it 3000 miles ago( its now at 146,000 mi) so its time for oil change! would you reccomend i use additives? should i use synthetic oil? whats the oil to use so that i might see my honda reach the 200K mark or even teh 300K mark as some of my friends say!
and lately i have been hearing lick a clock ticking just when i parked the car?
thanks for any assistance and suggestions

Use regular oil from Castrol or Mobil, not synthetic. You can use some fuel injector cleaner once in a while, it wont hurt.

Re: oil change and additives (wizurd)
5W-30 is perfect for 4 cyl accords all year around. i would put 4 quarts of 5w-30 and than a can of BG MOA. bg moa reduces engine sludge and keeps the oil in good condition. for total maintanance, i would add a can of 44k every oil change(to your gas tank). make sure its full though.

Yeah, it comes in a sliver can that looks like Red Bull (my friend almost made that mistake).

I also agree with razor. BG MOA is a great additive. Motor oil is made up of two parts, your petrolium base and your additive package. MOA is an 8 oz can of the additive package and it works really well. What ever you do, do not use Slick 50!! I used it i an old 4 cyl truck that I had and it started to burn oil!! As for the mileage that you get on your 90 LX, I hope that you can reach at least 300,000 mi. My 91 EX wagon is at 189,000 and still going strong. Just remember to do the timing belt every 90,000 with an original Honda belt and replace the water pump at the same time. This is very important!! Enjoy your new accord.

Re: oil change and additives (Gen4-5Door)
yeah theo only BG products i recommend are the BG MOA(oil additive) and BG 44k(fuel additive, cleans carbon buildup in intake manifold and fuel injectors, make sure you add when you have a full tank of gas).
