new brake pads
Just got my brake pads replaced. Is it normal for it to make sounds when you're almost at a complete stop or when you're letting off the brakes slowly when you're at slow traffic? The sound sounds like the sound you hear after you wash your car

Re: (goldaccordse)
all pads make noise, but it varies widely from brand to brand. if all it is is just noise and the performance of it si fine then its nothing to worry about it. it may or may not go away when broken in, after about 200 miles or so and it still making the noise i would try spraying it with some CRC brake quiet.

Make sure you have shims on the back of the pads and that the shims and the pads have anti-squeal "grease" on 'em and any surface of the pad/shims that touch the caliper. Then you should be good to go, except for the occasional squealing that can happen with semi-metallic pads. They tend to squeal a bit in cold temps. Once you get them to operating temps, they should stop squealing, though that's hard to accomplish in street driving.

dont confuse brake rgease with anti-squeak compound. with brake grease you want to apply it to metal-to-metal surfaces that move, such as the caliper bolts/pins and the pad guides. anti-squeak compound is what you want to spread on the back of the pads, put a nice even coat on the back, let it dry for like 10 minutes, and it'll turn into a rubber like material to help absorb and dampen vibrations that will cause noise.

Read the service manual. They call your "anti-squeak compound" molykote M77 grease. If you want to be your own lexicographer and tell Honda to rewrite the service manual, be my guest.
Here's some anecdote to what I'm talking about: http://www.honda-acura.net/for....html

Re: (F23Coupe)
last time i checked it was still called anti-squeak compound by CRC, permatex, and LOCTITE. and if you were talking about molykote you shoulda said so. i dont know what goes through your head. so dont get all butt hurt. i just didnt want the guy to get confused and think anti-squeak 'grease' has lubricating properties and end up making his brakes stick. jesus, getting all fired up over something so little.

Is the sound you're talking about like a grinding type sound when you have the brakes on enough to stay stopped but light enough to not have the brakes gripping completely? If so, mine does that and always has, even with Honda brake pads.
