Battery Light = Alternator

*edit* Replace it with something other than a shitty rebuilt one.

From personal experience Autozone doesn't always know what they're doing haha.

9 times out of 10 the battery light is referencing to the alternator.

Toss a multimeter on the battery with the car running and the voltage across it's terminals I believe should be in the neighborhood of 14V.

The alternator could be weak but not dead. Remove it then have it tested by an alternator shop, look in your yellow pages under automotive-electrical if you don't know where any alternator shops are located.

For what it's worth, I'm going through a similar process on my '95 Toyota Camry, the alternator is suspect #1 at this point.
