Default I'd like to put ABS in my 4g sedan

Like the title says. I'd sell the car and get one with ABS for that matter, but this car has a lien on it. so no sale. I'm tired of slip-sliding around the pavement with crappy tires, and my friend lost control of my car in the rain. I'd get new tires, but I want the safety of ABS. why? Because I'm not a race-car driver, I don't need to be one, and I'm going to have to do some brake work anyways.

I'm pretty good at working on cars, just changed a rack&pinion on another car last week so technical difficulty doesn't scare me.

The car I have is a 90 accord EX, rear drums, front non-floating rotor design. A friend of mine has a 93 LX with ABS, and another has a 92LX from the salvage yard with 4 wheel disc ABS.

What I'm wondering is how much would it all cost, including wheel sensors, etc... and what my parts list will look like. will parts be bolt-on or will I require some fabrication?

Thanks for your replies.

I'm no expert on this, but I would imagine it would be way too costly to be practical, unless you got a good deal on a wrecked EX w/abs. I would guess you will need the sensors, new axles, the abs reservoir, abs pump, abs computer, rear disc, conversion, and all the harnesses necessary, and probably more than that.

not to mention that in a non ABS accord (ie yours) the paths that the ABS hard lines are routed may be occupied by other things requiring reroutes or changes to other things.

also will require some crazy harness modifications as well the adding the ABS light...

speed sensors cost 120 or so new from a dealer.
the modulator cost close to a grand from a dealer. 600 online. 150 used but who knows what you're going to get.
axles run 50-70 bucks a peice.

you'll be looking at over 1,000 dollars even if you go the cheap route.

for that money you could have three sets of top quality all seasoin tires. and if you ain't no race car driver then you should get able to get along just as well as the other 100 million americans out there without ABS.

way too costly, so just get good brakes and some grippy tires, that would be most cost effective. Also I already talked to some guys at my dads work, Dobbs Honda, I trust the parts managers, and they told me it would be impossible and they wouldnt even try it.

even if you save some money from wrecked accord, the abs wont last forever..
