Default Some minor '94 Accord questions

You know that I am new here by looking at the number of posts I have made, and I have been searching forums for the past three months trying to find the answers to the following (seemingly) impossible to answer questions.

First, since I am new here, I will tell everyone a little about my car. In October of '04 I procured a '94 Accord EX sedan 5spd with 195k miles on it. The sole purpose for the purchase of this car was to tune it, so I didn't care about the miles. I purchased the car while I was stationed at Cannon AFB, NM. Since then, I have separated from the AF and am now in NJ with my wife. My first problem is that my Accord is still in NM, and I can't get it here until I get rid of the P.O.S. 2000 Civic that I drove to NJ. Since I have had some time away from my Accord though, I have had time to put together an extensive list of things I want to do to it. Before I put anything on the list, I research it. Which brings me to my first real question:

1.) Does anyone make a set of projector headlights for the 94-97 Accord that doesn't have those god-awful "halo" rings on them?!?!?! I have searched everywhere and all I could find was a set of overpriced TYC's. They were projectors, and they didn't have halos, but they also weren't the single piece headlights. If I used them, I would still have to buy clear corner lights. IMHO, the one-piece lights just look cleaner. And don't anyone try to sell me on the JDM scatter beam headlights. If I wanted something like that, I'd keep the OEMs that are still on my car.

2.)Is it possible to replace our horribly-lit gauges with something that has lighted needles? With my white indiglo guages the white needles almost dissapear during the day, and it isn't much better at night. Is there any way to create a "hybrid" gauge cluster from the 6th gen Accords with the red lit needles? There has to be a way! When I owned my '02 Civic EX, the red needles looked really really good against the white gauges I put in, and the red needles on blue guages were awesome when lit up at night.

I'm sure I'll have more questions later, and anyone else in the New Jersey area with a 5th gen Accord give me a shout! BTW, as soon as I can get my car here, I'll start taking pictures. I'm going to try and document the entire process of mod'ing my car... in the meantime PEACE >-

arr, it's a novel.

if you want projectors, your best bet is to retrofit some in. I've seen lots of people do it on HT. There is a retrofit-club here.

as for the needles... paint them with something that will still let the light through? don't know; probably a bad idea.

Welcome, well people will say to stay away from those halo ones because of the poor qualtiy. The only other ones I know of as you mentioned are the TYC ones. You could also have your OEM headlights retro fitted for about $250 from what I've heard. On the cluster, a 97-99 Acura CL (non v6) will fit, but I am not sure if the needles glow. Someone should be able to clear this up. South Jersey Holla!

when people make ludicrous thread titles in the tech forums, which then make searching for them later IMPOSSIBLE

no one cares if your annoyed by it. people first come here, and havent found a niche like most members have. they want to start out on the right foot, and so they introduce themselves.

projector headlights are not only useless with halogen bulbs, they look HORIBBLE. the gauges lights up fine enough...theres a little switch to the left of the steer column that controls it., try turning it up. white gauges are annoying, and will create glair.

So you bought this REALLY high mileage car with the sole intention to tune it...yet your only modifications you're really interested from your "extensive" mod list is a set of projector headlights and some red needles to make your indiglo gauges look better?

hee hee...you could have probobly saved some of us some reading by premising your questions with "Trust me, most of you wont give a ****, but just in case your bored, could you help me out on a couple of cosmetic modfications i want to do to my accord thats on the other side of the country?" Might have worked out better on your behalf.

ricebike: I call the 2000 Civic LX a P.O.S. because it's really slow. I knew that when I bought it, but at the time I needed a car that would get really good gas mileage, which it does wonderfully. But now I'm through with it and I need to sell it.

fw190bvi: I'm not going to use halogen bulbs in the projector headlamps, I'm installing an aftermarket H.I.D. system for the lowbeams. And the needles don't light up no matter how far you turn the interior dim ****. They weren't meant to, because the original config for the entire cluster was lit from the bulbs in the top of the gauge cluster housing. White gauges in a 5th gen accord don't create enough glare to be noticeable, and the white faces look 10x better than stock.

hypnosisracing: The mileage doesn't matter because I'm swapping an H22A into the car and replacing the entire driveline. The mods I asked about are not the only two things I'm doing to my car, just the two I haven't been able to find any info on.

A 95 Accord EX is really slow too...and really, to speak on drag racing (since with an H22 swap im guessing thats what your probobly looking to do, also based on your other ideas)...the civic might be a more optimal setup because of the lighter weight and cheaper parts which are much more numerous...not saying anything agianst your plan to build an accord, but if it was because of the performance factor, id have to argue that the Civic chassis would probobly be a better candidate for an H22 swap when it comes to drag racing...especially when it comes to future weight restrictions and availability of performance parts MUCH cheaper in some cases vs. an Accord.

I realize the weight thing, but I'm using the Accord because it's something that most people wouldn't do (be it for good reason). I like the way my Accord looks compared to my Civic to0. And yes, my Accord is uber slow as it is right now. However, I've done very extensive research into the 5th gen aftermarket, and I'm confident I can take my Accord where I want it to go. Money will be the major issue, but I'm willing to let this project take the next few years. I'm not looking to make a high 9 second car or anything, just having fun with my first tuner.

Well, I did some research on the gauge clusters from the 97-99 Acura CL and they look exactly the same except for the orange needles. I've never actually seen a CL before, much less know anybody who owns one... so could anybody tell me wether the needles light up orange at night?

I have the Acura cluster in question on my accord and no the needles dont light up. The guages are slightly brighter than the dim *** looking ***** that come with the car. However, in all reality, its a little cleaner looking with the numbers looking a little different, but if i didnt get the guage pod for 20 bucks shipped i would never have done it.

Oh, good luck with the H22 swap, its very worth it.

Oh yea, everyone in this thread is cool, some are little more aggressively expressive than others, dont mind them, they mean well, and if not, uhm...
