How hard is it to replace inner tie rod end in a '99 EX, 5-speed?
I just failed inspection cause the stealership said the '99 Accord EX I just bought has to much play in the right inner tie rod end. They want $200 to fix it. I can get a Beck/Arnley right inner tie rod from a local forign car parts store for $22!! Should I atempt this job. Should I use the Taiwan made aftermarket part? A local independant Honda shop will put it in for $80?

Nothing really tough about htis job, take the outer tie rod loose from the knuckle, by removing the cotter pin and backing off the nut a few turns, then smack the point where the ball joint stud passes thru with a big hammer.
Next you undo the clamps of the steering rack bellows, slip it back from the steering rack and you'll see the tabs that lock the inner joint to the Rack.
Bend ther tabs and unscrew it. Replace it and keep the same length of the total rod.

Thanks for the info The Haynes manual has NOTHING on INNER tie rod replacement! Do you know where I could find any dig. pics on this job? Would you use the Beck Arnley parts for half of the Honda parts?

Beck Arnley are decent after market parts If the 80 bucks the shop is charging you includes alignment then I would just let them do it.
