Default H23A Vtec (blue top) 96 Accord Ex Distributor & Crank Position Sensor Qs

Ok so this is the only issue I'm having with my swap. I have a H23A vtec obd2 going into my 96 accord ex had a f22b1 vtec obd2. I'm running a jdm ob1 P13 ecu with the conversion harness, BUT i need to get emissions passed. When i need to get it passed i want to be able to plug in the f22b1 vtec ecu so i can pass. Then I'll just put my p13 back in, and when i run that it doesnt look for the crank position so it doesnt matter. So i want to wire up the crank position sensor, not actually using the crank position sensor, aka through the distributor because im using the h23a vtec obd2 distributor, and my original harness, So i was wondering if anyone knew how to wire the crank position sensor through the distributor because the crank position sensor has 4 wires and the jdm distributor has 8 wires and my old distributor only has 5 wires. So i have three wires to work with a 4 wire sensor ? I know it should work theoretically but i was seeing if any had done this first hand. Or that it's not possible. I have all the wiring diagrams i need except the jdm distributor off the H23A Vtec. If not, Ill just to bite the bullet and buy the rare *** p13for emissions eventually from the 96 prelude. All the help would be appreciated, and Pleas actually know what you're talking about because the whole reason I'm posting this is because I find a lot of differnt stuff and half the stuff ppl don't know what there doing. Thanks for all the help

Does your state allow you to downgrade from obd2 to obd1 and still pass emissions ? CA does not allow this but we are the strictest.

The car has to have a functioning crank sensor system or the car won't start let alone run.

Find out if your state will allow you to downgrade then update this thread. This is going to be key, but you will probably want to stay obd2 as that will be a lot easier.

All that information is in the post, no you can't downgrade thats why I'm asking if anyone can help me with my problem. The car will start with no crank sensor for my obd1 p13 but i wanted to have it so i can just plug my original obd2 ecu in so i can pass emissions. Thats why I'm tryin to find out if i can wire up the crank sensor in the jdm distributor even tho there isn't literally a crank sensor in it but the jdm h23A vtec uses the distributor as the crank sensor. I know i can run my obd1 p13 with no problem kuz obd1 doesn't look for crank position sensor but i need to plug in a obd2 ecu for emissions.

1. If your state is the same as mines...and I'm not sure how PA is...the moment the smog tech sees that h23a vtec motor in your car he's going to either look for the BAR sticker...not sure if your state does those..or he's not going to test it cause it's not the correct motor for that car. Again, I'm no expert on your state, just going by what would happen if this were CA.

2. Your car already had a crank sensor at the oil pump. If that new motor doesn't have a crank sensor then you are going to need to get an h22a oil pump complete with crank sensor assembly and install it to your oil pump. First see if the connectors will go together. If not, then you will need to match up the connectors from either your existing harness or the h22 oil pump crank assembly by sourcing whichever connector you want to mate up with the other..choosing whichever route you want to.

Perhaps an h22a crank assembly solely itself will bolt onto that housing I'm not sure. There is an h23a vtec thread at the top of the prelude forum.

Well yeah I'm pretty sure that I can buy a whole H22a4 oil pump and it will have the crank position bolt holes. I just don't have 150 bucks at the moment and was wondering if anyone had done this before because I'm going back in monday, If no one has I was just going to try to looking at the wiring diagrams and figuring out myself but before i even go try I'd like to see if anyone knew if it wasn't possible so I don't waste my time. I mean if the TDC sensor in the Jdm distributor ran on the same reference voltage and what not.

Also I wanted to know if any has or can get ahold of the Jdm H23A vtec distributor pin out, I have shopkey and alldata but the jdm is what I can't find. It may be like some other jdm distributors but I'm not sure.
