Fuel sending unit - when do you know if it's not working correctly?
Is it simply when the fuel gauge needle keeps bouncing around?
ex: I was driving today with half a tank and during turns or downhills/uphills or even during normal road driving, my needle would decent to 1/4 tank and then back up to a half a tank
Also, when my needle drops to E, the gas light doesn't light up
Any ideas?

I am currently having similar issues....all mine does though is not go past the F line when i fill up. and it indicates less fuel than is really in there, cause i still get like 25-26 mpg.

Mine does the exact same thing. I just don't listen to it anymore and I reset my trip-meter and fuel up at around 400 everytime or until the gas light comes on.
Side note, we have a 17 gallon tank. I saw my fuel light come on for the first time ever about a week or two ago and I knew it worked then. So that is my tell tale sign of when to fuel up. When I saw it come on, I fueled up and it only took 15.6 gallons meaning I still had about 40 miles before I would be truly empty. Just something to remember so you don't freak out when the light comes on.

i havent replaced the sending unit, only because i didnt want to spend $100 yet.
Obsidian brings up a good point....i ignore the needle and watch the mileage. at about 350-400 miles my light comes on, which usually leaves me with approx. 2 gallons left.

is that about 300 miles give or take a few? if you drive locally try letting it go until the light comes on. when you fill up, how many gallons are you putting in?

I put in about 39 litres or so...(don;t know the conversion....litres x 4 = gallon?)
450 kms is around 281 miles....and that SUCKS in terms of mileage Maybe it;s more likely my O2 sensor as well...
This is gonna cost me

there are 3.785 liters in a gallon....so you are only putting in about 10.3 gallons. If yours is a 5th gen then you should have a 17 gallon tank. Try running it out longer and see what happens.

Based on jowgen1, maybe I should replace the sending unit.....and see if that works
