Default Fuel pump inop/ no fuel pressure issues.

I bought a '92 DX a few months ago and drove it for about 500 miles. Every once in a while, it wouldn't start. I'd turn the key all the way off (as if I was going to remove the key), and try to start. It cranked and had spark, but no fuel... I'd do this maybe 3- 20 times and then it'd start and run fine.

It's sat for a few months while I've lazily done the DSM turbo thing in it and finally got around to firing it up today. No dice. No fuel to the rail. I figured it was the main relay, and because I'm a cheap *** and have maybe spent about $1075 on this whole thing (car, turbo, tires, stereo ****), I decided to wire the in tank pump to a switchable 12V source to bypass the main relay (I still have spark on all four, verified by a timing light).

I found four spade terminals at the top of the fuse box under the dash, and the #2 terminal is switchable 12V, so I tapped into that to the yellow wire that feeds + to the pump (according to the wiring diagram). I have 12V on the yellow wire at the plug behind the rear passenger seat, just before it splits and goes to the to the rear and down to the fuel level sender.

I'm *assuming* the in tank pump is bad, but don't want to drop the tank to find that it's not the pump.

I welcome all input, BUT... Unless you have specifically dealt with this issue, or know exactly what you're talking about, PLEASE DO NOT REPLY. I absolutly hate, hate, HATE bad tech advice (unless it's in Kills, of course), and really don't have time for speculation. I've been as accurate as I can be with my description and appreciate the same in return. Thanks.

if it doesn't start after shutting it off like quick trip to the store and will start latter just fine and if it's hot outside. and never died out while driveing just wouldn't restart after turning the engine off then start with the main relay. but since you direct wired the pump to a switch it's hard to say as jerry rigging it can cause more problems.

It is just way easy to pop the guts out of the main relay[leave the case attached to the car]; then resolder the bad joints that are cracked at the relay coil connection points on the circuit board, and stuff the sucker back into it's case.

^^^ I've used hondadude's link quite a few times already (on different cars). It's worked every time with ease, and it's free.
