Default A few questions...

I figured out where the oil leak was...thanks to the posters and others here. I figured out that the leak was at my oil cooler..Just have a few questions...1. do you have to remove the coolant lines to replace the gasket?...I've asked everyone and read every book...what size is the O'Ring?No One knows... and I've tried a 27mm socket to remove the oil cooler...won't take a bite......does it require a special tool?

Although you didn't state what year, I would say you're referring to a 4th gen accord.

You don't have to remove the hoses to replace the o-ring. I believe you need a 30mm deep socket to remove the nut.

The O-ring is 62.4x3.1. Honda Part No. 91316-PE7-730 Just get it from the dealer. It list for $2.55.

Redbull, You were right on the money right down to the part number. I couldn't find a 30mm but I measured the bolt with a crescent wrench at 1 1/8" I hope it works...I used 5 quarts today

Have you replaced it yet? If not, go to Sears or somewhere to find the 30mm socket. Don't risk rounding the nut with a wrench or something. Using the right tool can save you $ and headaches.

Those O-Ring oil cooler are notorious. Mine was leaking too when I first got done with the H swap. It's cake but thats cause I had a hoist to use at work.

it does turn the same way as the oil filter to come off...right? I've tried brute force, cheater bars and even tapping the wrench with a hammer...still wont give...I even gave a good cussin...Ideas?

Yes, it does turn the same way off. Get a 30mm socket and use a ratchet.

Also, when using a ratchet to loosen, use a pull motion instead of a push. Most people think pushing give more leverage; but, I was taught and believe it is the other way around.

The ratchet and 30mm socket is what I'm using...seems like with all the oil that has been thru there (5 qts yesterday) it should be easier to get off. With the little clearance, physics isn't really on my side, but, I'm gonna work on the force .vs. mass to find an easier way.

This is getting VERY Expensive...I counted 19 qts of oil since this happened. It's time to pull instead of push...

What's the easiest way to get the old O Ring out? I've tried lock picks and a tweaker, next an eyeglass screwdriver

So, I assume you got the oil cooler off? If so, use a razor blade or something and cut it. Then use a screwdriver or whatever to pry and/or pull it out.

The old O Ring was so brittle that it came out in pieces. put her back together and NO LEAKS!!!!
