evap leak test detector??
hey does any one know where to buy a evap leak detector? i did some search on yahoo and google and came up with detector that cost 1000 or more. im looking for a detector that is decent and doesnt cost too much. anyone? i need one that detects gas from evap not refrigerent gas that is used on a/c. thanks

You're not going to find one cheap. They are all Professional quality, and I've yet to see a consumer unit.
It would be cheaper to use the Florescent dye and a Black-light procedure, but you'd still see an outlay for tools you might use three times.....

The florescent dye is introduced into the refrigerant charge, the system is allowed to run (for perhaps a day or two) and then the blacklight is played over the a/c components. If there is a leak apparent it will glow either blue or yellow when the ultra-violet light hits it.
It washes off afterwards.

they got this new stuff that actually glows when it is exposed to air. It is green colored and you don't even need anything but a regular light to see it.
