Default door lock help

so here is my situation i have a 1993 honda accord lx. im having some troubles with the door lock. if i lock the doors i can not use the key on the drivers side door to unlock it or lock it. i have to go to the passenger side to unlock it. and to lock my car i have to lock it from the passenger side to. the switch works on the drivers side but the problem is that if i have the door open and hit the lock switch the lock just pops right back up. i hope i explained this well enough if not tell me. but what do you think is going on?

1. Pull the panel to see if the door rod is connected to the lock.

2. Hold the inner handle open when using the switch.

The drivers side door lock on hondas will not lock with the door open. This is normal, to keep you from locking your keys in the car.

Try getting a new key cut. They do wear out and cause that sort of thing to happen.

Chikin, if you hold the interior door handle "open" while you use the switch....it will lock. At least with all of mine (3rd, 5th and the Pilot) it does.

Do you hear a buzz when you use the lock on the driver side door? It could be the lock itself or the connector is loose. I've read on other forums that the little plastic piece on that the rod connects to breaks over time. Let me know what you find out. I have a sticky lock on my rear doors.

hey thanks guys finally had a chance to check this post. I did not know you had to hold the inner door handle to have the door lock so "fixed that" and I am not to worried about the door unlocking but I will try getting a new key cut since I do not have a spare. Thanks again
