Do all 6th gen coupes' clocks NOT light up?
I've wondered this for a long time. My 02 coupe, my friend's 99 coupe, and my other friend's 2000 coupe all have a problem with the clock above the cd player not lighting up. It's just a regular little lcd screen, only visible until about 7:00, and then it's impossible to see the time. At first I thought it may just be our cars, but then I asked a few more people, and they said their clocks don't light up either. They didn't even put a clock on the cd player display to counter this problem. I find it hard to believe that Honda can forget something so...simple?
So what's the deal?

like everyone else said, its either a fuse or a burnt out bulb.
The clock bulb is notorius on the 6th gen for being burnt out so thats why it may seem odd. Mine was blown on my 6th gen too. I thought maybe it just didnt have a light at first.

I guess we have enough participation to create a 6th-gen-burnt-clock-bulb club!
yeah its the bulb. its really simple to change it... I changed it on mine and for a friend who has the same model.
the only other one that has died on me yet is the shift column light bulb (for AT) and the cruise control button light.

To take the clock out, take a look at step four in these instructions:
http://www.handa-accessories.c...d.pdf
Then, from a different thread:

... There is an indentation in the back cover for the bulb. You will be able to unscrew it without removing any covers. </TD></TR></TABLE>
The cost for the bulb from the dealer is something like $1.50. It's supposed to be easy to change, I haven't personally done it since my clock bulb is still going strong ('99 LX).
For what it's worth, the entire clock assembly with hazard button is ~ $20 or so, I had to replace the entire unit once after I messed up the clip on the back while unplugging it.

My clock bulb burned out too. I replaced it with an LED, which cost me ~$0.20 compared to $1.50 at the dealer; and I know the LED will last forever, unlike the oem bulbs. Same goes for the cruise control light. The green bulb went out, and the dealer wanted $12 for it. I replaced that with another LED.

These bulbs are ON whenever the ignition is on. It is not connecterd to the dash lights. So these bulbs burn out faster because they have been lit as long as the ignition was on, day or night. Stealer is the only place to buy them . . . guess why

Hm, that is a faulty design I think. Why have it light up even in daylight? I mean some people do put limo tint on their cars and the clock might not be visible then but still, these bulbs only last a few years at the most. I had mine replaced under warranty but it should last about as much as other interior lights. At 74k miles and 6 years, all of my other interior light bulbs are still good! Heck, even my headlights lasted close to 45k miles I think.

Only 5 bucks? You can get it at a dealer for $1.50.
