Car dies after warming up
Hello,
I have a 1992 Accord, after warming up or driving about 10 miles my car will start to feel like its mis firing. It will then die and not restart till it becomes cold again.
I replaced the igniter inside the dizzy but it still does it. Also replaced the Temp switch.
Another sympton i have is that when i first start it the idle will continually jump between 1000-1500 until it fully warms up.
I went ahead and posted this while i am searching on here for similar problems, any input would be helpful. This car also has zero mods, its my daily!!

or you might have a slightly blown head gasket and maybe there is coolant entering the cylinder causing your engine too die out .Do a compression test look at the plugs also .

Ok, Ill pull the plugs today and look, any other problems that could cause this?
I checked the Oil, its not a milky color. This would mean that I do not have a blown head gasket correct?

doesn't sound like a main relay. sounds like the catalytic converter is clogged.
it's not terribly difficult to check (but it may be loud!). remove the converter from the rest of the exhaust system and look inside to see if things appear to have melted and or clogged.
mine looked like this...
if it looks something like that you'll probably need a replacement. you can confirm that this is the root cause by letting the car warm up with the cat off, then driving it to see if the symptoms persist. this will be the loud part.

When I took the disty off my car I removed the cap, It was night time while doing this, and something metal fell off after i took the rotor off, anyone know what it was? I googled a disassembly of our distys and found nothing that would have fallen out.
