aight so i'm gonna make a grounding kit with 4 gauge wire and gold plated connectors, so do any of ya'll have any suggestions on what places on the engine i should be grounding?
has anyone experimented on different spots to get best results?

what a waste of money ..... i think i would rather buy a type r sticker to get more HP

i am only saying this because there is no proof that grounding your car will acheve anything other then nothing ....

Actually, I've seen a ton of graphs (done my independant shops that I have friends that work at those shops) that support small gains in the low ranges. ESPECIALLY prevelant in very old cars, and some new ones with poor poor grounding. It's not really a waste for $25 or so that it takes....and besides, if you're going to run a strong engine, you're going to want good grounds, believe me. Please do more research before posting smart remarks, if you do some research Mitsubishi as well as Nissan actually sell OEM earthing kits for the 350Z and I believe the 3000GT is for Mitsu......and it's very very very common to see these style grounds in Japanese tuner cars.

i will wait till i see a car dynoed with out them and the SAME day after it is installed they dyno it again .... to me the kit is rice and i am not the only one who thinks that .... many in the itr forum and other forums also think the same

as far as mitsubishi and nissan go .. i dont doubt it they are not really a refined product like a toyota or a honda product is so that wouldnt surprise me too much

ive seen dynos that gained 2-3 whp from honda's...not bad for a cheap mod....

I did this mod, and I can say idle is smoother, and car cranks up easier....

How is a ground wire kit rice? I can understand apc stickers, underbody neon, big wings but how can something that adds power and import tuner and turbo magazine have both posted dyno results be rice just wondering.

they make the "tornado" show that it makes power on a dyno ... so unless i see it in person i wont believe it and the reason i call it rice is because people mostly use bling bling colored wire and looks like a ricers engine afterwards.... just my .02

So conduct your own experiment. It ain't gonna kill your pockets. $25 I think you can afford that if your into modding your import. So do it and you give us your input.

i spent about $15 and 2 hours making one for my car, and i have to say it may not MAKE power, but it sure helps otherwise. My a/f gauge is more precise, starting is easier, lights are brighter, etc, etc. I am sure that it has a positive effect on the injectors and other electronic components.

The argument of whether these things actually are beneficial has been going on for years, and there is just as much evidence supporting the pro's as the con's.

The WRX guys are all about this mod. Japan imports tend to use the shortest, thinnest grounds possible to save weight and money. This mod, especially in older cars where the contact points and wires are deteriorating, can help. Flame on flamers... but don't knock it till you try it

I would make my own DIY grounding cables before I would buy a kit.

I will say it cannot hurt to ground everything very well though... factory grounding is usually very minimal.

I haven't used one, but im in the process of making my own, like you, using 4 guage silver strand wire(clear jacket), gold plated connectors. I just gotta get motivated to actually do it

so i wuz talkin to my buddy who drives a 97 prelude w/ grounding kit, and he said that he tried moving his grounds around but noticed nothing. basically wuz i'm tryin to say is that as long as all your ground cables are dispersed to all sections of your engine (ie. valve cover, cylinder block, tranny etc) than you should be ok!

i had like 10 extra feet oif ground wire from my stereo and some nice copper eyelets and made grounds. i ran them from teh alternator bracket, the starter, the distributor, the valve cover and IM near the rail. Overall I found my idle smoothed out and the lights were brigher and the miss i have seemed to reduce some as well. For extra parts I had on hand it was a great freee mod.
