Default Alternator/ecu fuse keeps blowing

What would cause the alternator/ecu fuse to constantly blow out. The battery will not hold a charge or charge up with the fuse blown. I've already changed the fuse 4 times already. I need to get this fixed, b/c I keep getting stranded. The check engine light and abs lights come on when this happens. The code from the CEL is 46 (I'm guessing low voltage to secondary O2 sensor). How do I read the abs CEL? But after I replace the fuse, all CEL's are gone. Only until the fuse blows again. Any help GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks.

It could be as simple as the alternator is fried. But a lot of stuff runs off the same fuse so its hard to be more specific without more details. Like what year/options and how long does it take to blow the fuse.

My bad

96 Accord EX 5spd. About 91,000 miles. And it only takes about 10 - 15 miles for the fuse to blow.

...more info. My alternator that's on right now has a AEM pulley on it. I ended up buying another alternator from the junkyard, but couldn't switch the pulley's (PIA). I took both pulley's to Schucks, and they both PASSED. Put old alternator back on, and with the fuse blown, the battery only showed around 8 to 9 volts. Put a new fuse in, and it jumped to 13.7 volts. Isn't that a tad bit high? Could this be the reason why the fuse keeps blowing? I'm going to try and adjust the tension. If that doesn't work, I'm going to buy the stock belt, and put the stock alternator/pulley combo. But before I go and buy it tomorrow, could anyone else be causing the fuse to blow? I've had the alternator/AEM pulley combo for 5 to 6 years, and have never adjusted the belt. Why all of a sudden it's happening now? Anybody???

is the car on when you are testing the voltage? if so, 13.7 isnt high at all. Tell me the voltage with the car off and the voltage with the car on. If possible, let me know the voltage drop while the starter is spinning to turn the car on, I'll be able to put you on the right path.

Ok, I'll try and get those numbers when I get home. Drove it today to work again, and kept it under 3000 rpms, and it the fuse didn't blow as fast. Almost made it to work, but it did end up blowing. So I replaced the fuse with a 15amp one, before I turned the car off. Well, I had a dentist appt today, and while on the way there, smoke started coming out of the vents. So I pulled over and pop the hood, and there was smoke coming from my fuse box. I also pulled my knee bolster cover, and there was smoke coming from somewhere in there, too. I let it run for a little, and the smoke stopped. So went ahead and made my way to the appt. After the appt, I start her back up. No smoke this time, and the fuse didn't blow. But the funny thing is, my headlights now turn on whenever I start the car. Could it be Clifford alarm system? I still have the CEL and the ABS lights on. But now the brake light is also on. WTF??? I don't want to take it in, b/c I know it'll cost a grip-load if it's electrical work. Somebody help please. Thanks....

Putting in a bigger fuse is never a good idea. When it was smoking could you identify the source of the smoke. Hopefully a particular relay. Having smoke from 2 different areas is real bad. When the fuse blows it keeps the alt from working so it doesnt recharge the batt. I have a 99 so no guarantee if this is accurate but if yours is a V6 the radiator fan control module is powered by the same fuse. If there is a short in the module/relays/fan that could be why the fuse blows after a few minutes. Can you pull the radiator fan relay? it should be in the underhood fusebox.
