97' Accord Transmission (is this normal?)
So I bought a used 97 and I noticed the shifting was a little hard. So I had the fluid flushed. Still shifted just as hard. Then I used my warrenty to have the transmission totally rebuilt. When I got it back I noticed it shifted better but it still shifted slightly hard, espicially downshift/upshift of 2nd/3rd gear. The best way to descibe it is a small kick or jolt. It bugs me 'cause my wifes 98' Altima has silky smooth shifting at 110k miles. My question is, is this normal? Do the 4cyl just shift harder? (my friend has a v6 95 and it shifts just fine) Thanks for your time.

wow, I would have checked the motor mounts after changing the fluid...hard shifting will be the cause of a busted mount. Also a can of lube guard for imports goes a long way towards alleviating that problem.......
This hard shifting is normal for these trans with high milage

My friends tranny was shifting hard and he put in some Lucas oil tranny conditioner and it made a difference!!! For him at least.
