Default 95 Accord with 97 ECU Harness

Ok, so i have a 95 Accord LX 2.2 non-VTEC AT.
I bought this car from a buddy that replace the main ECU harness with one from a 97 or 98, so naturally the ECU was from the same car. I was getting a secondary O2 error code on the CEL, but added a simulator to take care of that.
Now my CEL is stuck on, when I check the code i am getting 91. Well from what I can research, a 95 accord didnt have a fuel tank pressor sensor and neither did the early OBD-II's... so I went to the junk yard and pulled an ECU from a 97 Accord 2.2 non-VTEC hoping to take care of this, but it didnt.

Could this be a clogged EGR? should I get an aftermarket ECU?

It is the only code in the system.
I have replaced the fuel filter, plugs (NGK), wires, cap, rotor...

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

wow, thats a weird combo. you need a 94 95 accord ecu harness so you can use your correct ecu! 96+ ecu on a obd1 accord makes little to no sense

I didn't make the change, but it is already there and don't really want to change the harness if I can just change an ecu...

You can't use that harness unless you have a obd2 to obd1 subharness at the ecu. Is that the case ?

You need an AUTOMATIC obd2 to obd1 conversion harness and then use a obd1 ecu and tcu. rywire.com can make one for you. Or put the correct engine harness on the car and use obd1 ecu and tcu. You are getting some of those codes because the obd2 ecu is looking for more sensors than you have on an obd1 car.

sleepyaccord, I have no idea why he did that... Lets just say he is more of a shade tree mechanic and uses what is available. Nonetheless, he used a OBD-II harness in the car. He must have had a newer accord, or the junk yard only had a newer accord and that is what he used.

i dont know how I feel about buying a jumper for $250 just to get a CEL to turn off... I will need to think that over... I saw a post on here where a guy got a sensor from ajunk yard and wired it in for under $50... I may try that.

no need for a jumper, buy a obd1 94 95 accord harness and put it back to the way it is supposed to be, the obd2 ecu looks for a crank sensor located behind the timing cover as where your car originally had that sensor in the distributor. what all cel codes do you have?

i personally would swap it back to obd1 for several reasons.

joeyinkc,

I'm going to be honest, ever since your first thread when we were trying to figure out what the **** was going on with your car I had a feeling you were just going to keep running into issues. It doesn't sound like your friend did a good job on the harness (apparent by all the CEL's and issues) and I don't think you're going to find anyone else with the same setup (because it makes no logical sense.) You're likely better off just replacing the harness with the correct OBDI one from a junkyard or part-out and swapping it out. You'll save yourself and future owners the headache of figuring out what hacks you and the previous owner had to do.

exactly what i said!

When i get put in a situation to fix a car "usually a honda" that has had some sort of hack job it is very hard to diagnose a car thats originally obd1 but is running on obd2 electronics system and has unfortuantly been converted, it makes a nightmare for the person working on the vehicle and trying to track down what some jack-leg decided to do to it.

seriously need to convert this bitch back to obd1 for everyones sake.

You need to take some pics of what's going on, 'cause to be quite honest I'm not really buying your story of what's going on. To be more frank, it sounds like you're just trolling us. I'd like to think nobody else will attempt to help you out until you do 'cause it's obviously just a waste of time.
