Well, not reeealllllyyyy. But it would be nice having a proper ECM. Hell, just go buy a P28 and have someone tune it. Get all around better power on a stock setup.

If I get a p28, at/mt won't matter right? And if I'm gonna turbo eventually I'm gonna guess I'll need a tuned ecu?

Your only option for a P28 is a manual.

So I got some money laying around and I figured I may as well start start gathering funds for the auto to five speed. I'm thinking about the clutch first. I figured id get custom because I heard the honda ones aren't even that good and I might occasionally ram on it too, so I want it to hold up. Now I heard eBay parts are iffy, but they have some cheap clutch-flywheel combos, I've seen some as low as 70. If those hold up id consider one of them. Exedy are reputable and actually those are a lot cleaper than I expected. Nzx, you have one right? How do you like it? If you like it I think I'll get one

If I had the extra money I would have got the stg 1 or 2 clutch and the 8 or 12 lb flywheel. I have the stock spec exedy clutch and pressure plate with the throw out bearing and the stock spec flywheel now and it runs very well but could be better for reliability reasons. I think a lightweight flywheel would make the car accelerate faster and be funner to drive and a heavier clutch would put the power down better without having to worry about burning it up.

It's a little hard to say. Not much info on their site, only pics of 5-lug ROH rotors. If it was me, I would stick with Centric. Doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with these, though. I just don't know. And it doesn't say what the diameter of the front rotor is. I guess it is 260mm, but I sure hate to guess.

Don't buy drilled rotors, slotted are ok.

It's the idea of turbocharging a 94k mile motor that scare me. Is that too far into the motors life to put a low about of turbo pressure, 8-10psi?

PSI means absolute jack ****, the quicker you learn that the better. Not to mention it will save you from looking like an idiot whenever you're talking to someone knowledgeable. My engine makes 235whp (9psi Precision 3431e) on a stock block, stock head gasket, stock head all at 235k with absolute zero issues. It runs like an absolute dream, F22Bx's are very good for boosting on stock parts.

That is good to hear. The motor was used in an auto car driven by a girl. Hopefully that means she never rammed on it, redlined it, etc. The motor is complete besides an alternator and distributor, both of which I have. The only downside is he pulled it from a car that's totaled. He "said" the motor was uneffected and still works but who really knows. He's gonna eventually send some pics so I'll post them up. I don't know whether to jump on this or not

What do you mean by reconditioning? I bought it without a motor and I'm gonna get a new one and convert it to manual

Checkin this out on saturday.
94k
pulled from a wreck
worked even after the wreck
got the guy down to 325 for it

for now the auto is gonna go in. I just wanna get everything working right with the car and then I'll start gathering parts for my auto to 5 speed, then i can drop everything in. thinking of starting to gather turbo parts. theres a Turbonetics t3/ T04e for sale on CL for 450, I'll do some research but it seems like a good choice.

might actually get some "build" goin on in this "build thread"

For the love of Christ take a pressure washer to that thing and replace that God-awful rusted exhaust manifold, that thing is hideous!

But nice find still for $325, especially if its a good motor.

Yeah the headers do look terrible, but I'm gonna turbo sooner or later after I get my 5 speed swap, I'm the type who doesn't really wanna spend money on nice headers now because I'm gonna have to replace them in less than a year. maybe ill just buy cheap ebay headers and then use them till i gotta turbo

On the way home

It came with the wrong EGR? the harness wouldn't work with it. I went back to my 388k motor and pulled the EGR? off that. Works now.

The shop

New mount, because the rubber broke on the original

The harness on the new motor (many of the wires were cut so we went back to the 388k motor and ripped all the harnesses off that, none of those were cut)

All the wires cut on the old harness

This worries me, it was pulled from a totaled car, but it only looks like a crack in the finish or something. My dad doesn't seem to think it's a problem

Valve cover #2 (I have an absolutely awesome idea for how I'm gonna paint it)

how she sits now. Waiting for my spring compressors to get here so I can switch the springs onto new struts and maybe cut the springs a little, depending on how low the struts get me

of course the new mount didn't line up

I filed the hole a little wider and it's working now. I'm shooting to get the engine in this week. All I need is my spring compressor to get the struts on and then I can put the wheels back on, and I can drop the engine in. I still need to wait for an axle in the mail too and a battery I'll get from autozone, but we're gettin there. I'll show some updates in the near future
