91 honda accord tcu code 7
I have a 91 honda accord ex with the 4 speed auto trans. The S or sport light on the dash starts blinking intermittenly and the transmission skips 2nd gear when up shifting. it doesnt do it all the time its only done this about 3 or 4 times and i've just pulled over and shut the car off and start it back up and it doesnt come back on the rest of the time im driving. I checked the codes with the jumper wire and the code read out was 7 with the S light. I've also researched some on a few other sites and I found it has something to do with the exterior transmission solenoids. Anyone have any advice on what to do?

Check out this thread:

It might have some info on your issue. I had the blinking S light issue too. I just took out my TCU and had honda tech member "justinsbg" replace the burnt out capacitors for me. The car seems to be shifting right again and no S light.

Oh ok thanks for the info. Don't get many replys on this site. Well the car started doing it more often, the light would come on and keep blinking all the time so I checked all my wiring for the shift control solenoid. I pulled the tcu and found no burnt resistors or anything so after checking everything I just replaced the shift solenoid and that fixed the problem for about 2 weeks or so. Now I'm back with the same problem. Anyone have any ideas or advice?

Re: 91 honda accord tcu code 7
When I checked my TCU it appeared normal at first. I had to pop out the green chip board from the metal box housing it is attached to so I could get a better look. I checked between the board and the reistors and capacitors (not the backside of the board). There I found 1 burnt out capacitor and the guy I sent the TCU to found more than I could see. I suggest double checking if you haven't already. I would have missed it if I didn't pull the board up and check again.

The error code 7 is for the shift solenoid so start by checking connection first. Check your battery connections, then check the shift solenoid connection. The shift solenoid is the lower solenoid located on the front of the transmission next to the trans dipstick. Check the wiring for corrosion, broken terminals, rubbing, etc.
I actually replaced the solenoid because I couldn't find anything else wrong and this didn't fix the problem. I overlooked the broken terminal in the connector. good luck

Hey can anyone tell me where to buy a transmission solenoid for a 91 Accord automatic transmission with sorts mode? I have looked high and low and nothing. I'm desperate. My Accord keeps shutting down while driving and no explanation. S light comes in and the car dies instantly and that's the only warning.

Before looking for a solenoid that costs more than the transmission, where did you get the code from?
CEL or from the S/D4 lamp?
CEL is for TPS, which is more inline with the engine dying than a a shift solenoid issue.
Also check all your wiring and grounds before replacing components. A damaged harness can cause false code trips and incorrect operation.
