Default 400-500HP Daily

I'm drawing up plans to build up my '95 Accord into a sleeper because all my buddies seem to think that a Honda can't be fast. It's the EX 2.2 F22B1 5-speed, and I'm wanting to shoot for around ~400-500HP. I want to run a compound turbo setup (simply because hardly anybody I've heard of runs em and I want the added effects of having a quick spool but large turbo). Money is not a big issue, but I am caught between buying a new F22B1 block and building it, or going with the H22A swap. I planned on getting ARP head studs, cam, lower compression pistons, forged internals, LS transmission, ect. on whichever I end up going with. I wondered if Honda-Tech could give me a little advice on which way I should go with it, and/or some other things I may need to add to the list? This car will be a daily for awhile until it gets set to the side as a play toy, so keep that in mind please.

Would the H22A swap be worth the extra work?

To reach 400-500whp You will need to replace the pistons, rods and sleeve the block on both the F and H series. It really comes down to how much you want to pay up front for an engine to be torn down and completely rebuilt. The F22B1 head will flow well enough to make that power.

Not trying to ask a bunch of questions that may seem obvious to other people, but which would give me more bang for my buck? I'm assuming that going with the H series would allow me plenty of room to grow later on, so I think I'm leaning into that direction.

This. Although, that much power really isn't a problem on stock sleeves with either, but hasn't ever really been tested too much.

I have a set of pauter x beam rods for h23/f22 if you're interested.

I appreciate it man, but I have to get through basic and tech school before I start bringing parts in. I think I'm gonna have whichever I decide to go with sleeved anyways just for piece of mind, as it will be a daily.

Exactly, same thing im doing. Been in college and have been building my f22b2 turbo for four years now. Should be dropping it in this summer! It would be cheaper to sleeve and f22 you already have then to buy an H and turbo it. They are cool, but you dont need a different motor to reach 500hp. Not sure what the deal is with swapping motors and then building it. Guess I didnt grow up in a mansion. Keep what you have and build it. I find it amazing a single cam non-v makes more torque than an H series twin cam. Usually the F has more torque than whp. its a good motor

read through some of the builds that have achieved these numbers to help you start planning. one that comes to mind is AFAccord's build thread. check it out. at full boost he was in the neighborhood of 450hp. his attention to detail and standard of quality are things you'll want to try to emulate.

I hear that. I was originally going to go with a new F22B1 block as I'd have to use the car while I'm building the motor and keep the block in the shop as I built it until it was ready, but then I read that the VTEC changeover in the F22B1 is one of the weakest VTECs Honda made, and I really wanted to up that.

Thanks man, I'm going to. I'm not one to do something halfass, and even though it usually leads to being more expensive it's always worth it in the end. I'll go take a looksee at his build and a couple other ones.
