1999 Motor Mount Bad... Replace All??
Hi everyone... hoping for some advice here.
Car in question is a 1999 Accord, 4cyl , 5 speed. 180k.
I am pretty confident at least one motor mount is bad. I feel some small jerks when accelerating, and if I push the car back and forth with it in gear, I can watch the front mount flex up and down.. Im a pretty big dude but I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be able to do that haha.
So, with the car being almost 15 years old, and having a lot of miles, should I just replace all four mounts? I have no problem with doing the work, it's just I don't want to throw money away on parts that I don't need. Any advice would be very helpful! Thanks in advance everyone.

i would give each mount a visual inspection for cracking or other damage. replace those that appear damaged then check the results. repeat until satisfied.

Yeah it sounds like its your front mount is going bad. That is normally the first one to go on a 5 speed, very easy to replace So
Just replace it or fix it like some guys do with window weld.

fair warning: filling it with window weld will make it whole again, but it won't be like an OE mount. most likely you notice more vibration inside the car at idle and a little more mechanical noise transmission while driving.
i've done this recently on the civic. i like the results, the audible feedback, the connectedness. but not all will.

Thanks for the responses everyone! Netopia, I agree the front mount is bad no question. However, other cars that I have worked on have had one mount break, resulting in damage to one or all of the other mounts. I ordered all four mounts, they should arrive this week and I plan to work on the car this Saturday. Unless I find the others to be in great shape, I will most likely change them all. I will post the results of what I find, of course with some pictures if I find anything really F'ed up or otherwise interesting.

Ok... I worked on the car yesterday for several hours. Front mount was toast. All the others looked ok but I changed them anyway. And now... I swear the shake is WORSE!!! There is a substantial jolt whenever you start or stop the engine, and moving from a stop shaky at lower rpm's. Yes everything is tight. Anyone have any ideas/suggestions before I push this piece of ish of the nearest cliff??

Re: 1999 Motor Mount Bad... Replace All??
Yes, I have the correct mounts. I have researched and found several posts describing a certain order in which you are supposed to tighten the mounts, found in a factory service manual. Supposedly severe vibration can result if this is not followed... which would explain my case. I do not have a factory service manual, only a Haynes one. Can anyone with a FSM confirm this, and maybe send me a copy of the page from the manual?
