1998 Honda Accord LX Master clutch Cylinder
Hi,
First post. i have a 4 cylinder 5 speed. the master clutch cylinder is bad. Its a plastic master clutch cylinder and TSB 98-084 says everything has to be replaced. they are telling at parts that the hose hydraulic line has to be replaced as well and only Honda sells the kit and they are asking $550 bucks for it - master, slave and connecting lines. Is there an alternative? if I decided not to do this myself, how many hours would the labor be for a shop to do it all? Can the existing line be used and an adaptable line be worked onto the new parts? thanks.

46930-S84-A06 CYLINDER ASSY., CLUTCH SLAVE $73.59
46960-S84-A07 TUBE ASSY., DAMPER $172.55

With tax the parts will be closer to $400.
If the MC and slave are replaced with parts from Rockauto/Centric.
CENTRIC # 13640009 Premium Clutch Master Cylinder-Preferred $34.79
CENTRIC # 13840010 Premium Clutch Slave Cylinder-Preferred $16.94
Saving $56.65 from the slave, and $87.88 for the master for a total savings of $144.53. Bringing the total in parts closer to $250. Still would need to purchase the tube damper assembly from Honda.
