'00 Accord V6 instrument cluster lighting issue...
What's up, guys and gals. I just recently bought a climate control unit and radio bezel off Ebay for my 2000 V6 and swapped it out early this evening (screen on my original one was damaged). Once I got it installed, I tested the lights without having the clock hooked up, and all the lights worked fine. Once I hooked up the clock and tested the lights again, all my lights went completely out, and did not come back on, including the instrument cluster. I checked all fuses, all were good. Mind you, this is a climate control unit and clock from an '01-'02. So that raises a couple of questions:
1. Are the '98-'00 and '01-'02 climate control units the same? Or does the clock have different circuitry which may have shorted my lights out.
2. Did I blow my MPU? I'm thinking not because all the fuses on the MPU were not blown and everything else works (horn, turn signals heat, a/c, etc, but backlights do not).
3. Possible blown circuit board on instrument cluster? I ask, because when I opened the MPU cover to check fuses, It had a faint burnt smell.
The last time I had a problem with my lights, it was just the instrument cluster, but I found a cracked lead on the left side of the circuit board, and soldered it back together. Solved that problem. But now, ALL lights are out, even the climate control backlights, and they have never went out before, until I swapped it out for this '01-'02 unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Snoop.

Re: '00 Accord V6 instrument cluster lighting issue...
Guys,
After some further digging last night, I may have narrowed it down to the lighting relay under the hood. All vital lights that are not backlit related still work (check engine, SRS, parking brake, doors open, rear defrost, etc.), but everything else that is backlit is out, even my shift lights & cruise control/sunroof light. I'll replace the relays today after work and see what happens. Anything else you guys think it may be, please help me out. Thanks.
