Well got a good deal on some SRP 9:1 pistons for my block.
Waiting on the machine shop to be done, then I will be ready to roll!

On a side note, anyone interested in some 81mm Arias 9:1 pistons with brand new rings hit me up!

currently its just a ls with I/H/E but it has a hi flow cat and a full 3" catback.

Your high flow cat is killing you. Most High flow cats say they'll pass emissions, but they don't. Trust me, been there done that. Do you have any results of your last test?
This is how you win smog test

Unfortunately, I'll be dealing with another smog test in a few months.

Matt, I hope you're building the engine "right" or you'll be sitting down again.

Hahha I hope soo too!
Honestly it should be good. The block that was in my car was probably beat.
When I first got it, like 6 years ago I just dropped it off at a shop to have the work done. I really doubt they looked at it and sent it out.
When I rebuilt the motor 2 - 3 years ago I checked it over and honed it but it was in the car so I coulda missed something.
This time it should be fresh and solid but who knows.

Don't expect to pass with the high flow cat then, plain and simple. What high flow cat do you have anyway?

Really? That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
Better crack that thing open and check it out before putting it near your car.

It is so inexpensive to take it to an exhaust shop and have them weld in a real cat. I bet 50 bucks in labor and maybe 75-125 for a part, depending on if you go used or new and if you shop right.

i have a high flow cat that i use for smog as well (my oem one went out) bt i always take it off ryte after and put my test pipe back on.....high flow cats or any aftermarket catalytic converter for that matter arent very durable they usually go out really quick if you are daily driving

When you say weld in a real cat, I hope you mean weld it in such that there are flanges that allow you to remove the exhaust in pieces like it's supposed to be - unlike what he has now. I HATE it when shops do stupid stuff like just weld an entire exhaust together w/o putting flanges on so that it can all be taken apart.

I wasn't able to pass w/ my SMSP cat either... It's a custom cat I made to fit my exhaust and header, so next time I'm up for smog I'll have to do some fab work to a stock cat to get it to fit, then I can just swap back and forth.
