ls vtec turbo clutch
im looking for some advice
my engine is an ls vtec 2,1l putting around 400whp on the ground, i dont know which clutch to use
after a lot of research, i narrow my option to clutch masters fx400 vs act hd pp 6pads springs disc
please help
some experiences with either of both clutches on similar setups could be helpful
thanks

Can't comment on the clutchmasters, I have no experience. I know an ACT HD with a 6puck won't hold well at 400hp, as I toasted one. I'm currently using a Comp Clutch stage 5 (unsprung 4 puck) at 500hp.

Re: ls vtec turbo clutch
No experience with clutch masters, but word around my area is that most don't like them, although I'm sure you'll get a few different answers from people. I had been running a competition 6 puck sprung (1620 I believe) disk untill a few weeks ago when it broke. Overall, wasn't impressed at all with Competition clutches. From day 1 it chattered badly, and engagement was way to rough, but I figured all 6 pucks would be that bad so I rolled with it. Another problem was it couldnt handle heat at all. It was like Rolling the dice when trying to do any racing. Sometimes it would let you shift, other times not. I have switched to an ACT 6 puck sprung with thier max hd PP and it's a night and day difference. Way better engagement all the way around. The pedal is deffinatly firmer, but not to bad ( although I like stiff clutches). I would reccomend ACT. Next time I will probably use one of there 4 puck clutches as driving on this 6 is pretty easy, I think I could live with their 4. Here's a pick of the broken spring in the CC disk.
