Need help with electrical issue.
So my Honda kept blowing 80a main battery fuses and not getting any power, ended up disconnecting the alternator and it I was able to finally get power. I have tested the alternator at autozone and they said it's reading okay. And even with the alternator disconnected the car still won't start. I tried starting the car and as soon as I do all power stops and I hear a popping/springing noise. So I'm thinking it might be a bigger issue than just the alternator. Anyone have any idea what could be done?

Have you checked/redone your main grounds, [batt. to chassis and chassis to engine]?

So it's a 2005 Civic LX, I realized that the reason it wouldn't start with the alternator disconnected was probably cause the battery was dead (duh I should have thought of that). But last night I bought some 8g wire and ran it from the alternator to the fuse box and it didn't seem to pop so I'm thinking that the alternator power wire was shorted. I didnt crimp the head on and bolt it in as it was getting dark but when just touching ends I didn't get any fuses blown. I'm installing that wire today and will update

Solved! After putting in a new alt power wire it was still doing the same thing. So I went and bought a new alternator and saw that there was supposed to be a piece of plastic between the alternator and the power cord that was causing it to short out. I had to do was put in a new piece of plastic. Is just an FYI if anyone comes across the same issue
