Issues after water temp gauge install
Hello guys,
I have an 92 eg6 civic with a b16a2 engine.I'm tracking the car sometimes and i've decided to install oil pres/temp and water temp gauges.Everything went good but i have a concern about the water temperature.
On normal operation goes up to 210 degrees, wich is pretty high, but the oem gauge stays perfect,a little under the half side of it.The water temp sensor is mounted on a hose adaptor on the upper one of course, near the radiator by 2-3 inch.
Ground should be good for the sensor, also the place for the sensor should be ok...
Fan is switching on at about 215 on my aftermarket gauge, but the oem one still stays under the half, wich lets me think that the aftermarket one or sensor has a problem, not the oem one,or the termostat,or the fan,or me when i reflushed the radiator after the gauge install.

Re: Issues after water temp gauge install
Id say the factory gauge would maybe not be calibrated to be exact and could be wrong or coolant temp sensor, id guess that the after market gauge would be more accurate

^^^^ that would kind of depend on the quality of the gauges.
The rad fan should come on at about 190 degrees F,[ECT] and if you have not been running into overheating issues, I would trust the OEM gauge as being "normal".
What is the make and model of the temp. gauge and is there an option to calibrate it? 94

Re: Issues after water temp gauge install
The aftermarket gauges are STRI model from Vivid Pf. and they are good quality.
In the past i've had for a couple days some overheating issues and i saw then that the oem gauge is working good and is really rising to red zone if the water temp goes crazy.
Calibration for the STRI gauge is impossible i think.
