a few questions before replacing oil pan gasket (yes i searched:))
ok this is a b16. i understand the process, but when you are applying the hondabond, do you put it everywhere on the gasket? and on both sides of it? also i've heard that its best to put the gasket on the motor then the oil pan under that. how will the gasket stay on the motor while i put on the pan? also i've heard to torque the bolts to 9lbs, and 15lbs. which is it? i'm doing this tomorrow and want to do a nice job.
thanks

I just used some RTV red and applied it on the whole gasket. One continuous line all around. Let it get sorta tacky then bolted my pan up to torque specs. I don't remember, maybe 15ft/lbs or so. This is on a boosted car too. No leaks at all. Been about a month.

1) you recommend placing the new gasket on the block first (as opposed to the oil pan first)???
2) do i apply the RTV on BOTH sides of the gasket?
3) if you apply it in one continuous line, do you do it on the inside of the holes or the outside of them(or over the holes in the gasket)?
thankyou

put it around tha perimeter of the pan
torque specs, I am not exactly sure of, but remember that these are not head bolts, they will break if over torqued.

10 lb*ft Cross-torque so you don't warp the pan's flange.
I don't why the Hondabond. The Service Manual doesn't call for it. I guess I'll wait to see if mine leaks.
