Default recommended 215/45/r17 tires

First off, I own a 1998 4 cylinder accord sedan.

I have 17's on my accord and currently riding on parada spec IIs. The sizes on those tires are 215/45/17 and i'm not happy with the parada's tread life.

Are there any tires with the size 215/45/17 that has decent treadware? I know these low pros tire dont have good treadware compared to stock tire sizes but I cant help it.

BTW, the parada's been making a lot of noises.......someone said that my tires are "cupping". Can someone explain this term for me briefly? The car is lowered on coilovers and I just ordered a set of camber kit so I thought I might as well change the tires, just need recommendation on which tires. TIA

edit: oh yea, I dont autocross, drag or any of that stuff. its a grocery getter.

i've never heard of cupping a tire but maybe they meant chopping and that is due to the toe setting on the alignment being off most the time, that might explain your bad tire wear too.. and as for a good wearing tire thats low pro like that i'd have to say maybe Bridgestone Turanza LSH or LSV not to sure if they make them in that size though and they aren't cheap either.

I went two years on the Falken ZIEX's with my (205/40/17)...they should suit your needs as far as daily driving...good tread-life and not too expensive.

My stock tire size is 195/65/r15, overall diameter is 25"

the falken ziex (which looks very promising to me) is 215/45/r17, over all diameter is about 24.6". will the .4" be a big difference as far as odometer, speedometer readings go?

"Speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 1.4% too fast.
When your speedo reads 60 mph, you are actually 59.1 mph.

Hey......1 mph off.....I can live with that...thank you so much man.

No problem... and YES...tirerack.com is a very good place to purchase from...I just got a set of tires from them last week...they don't carry Falken though.

I have Yokohama Avid H4s in 215/45/17. I read through review after review on Tire Rack for all sorts of different tires, and I chose these b/c I was looking for a longer tread life as well. I've put about 5000 miles on them so far, so here's my thoughts about them:

1. Surprisingly damn good grip, especially for an all-season tire. I'd say they grip as well, if not better, than my Kumho 712s. (Car does not see any track time, so this is just based on seat of the pants feel.)

2. Much, much quieter than both the Kumhos (same size) and the Michelin Energys (195/65/15) that are on my factory wheels.

3. Excellent resistance to hydroplaning.

It's hard to judge tire wear after only 5000 miles, but it appears that I should be able to get at least 50-60,000 miles out of them. BTW, my car is a '99 Accord sedan, lowered about 2 inches, camber kit in the rear only. Toe is within factory specs, camber in front is 1.0*, rear is about .5*.

Thanks philadd. After checking out the Yokohama Avid H4s on tirerack.com, this will be the next set of tires I am going to order.

Cheaper than the other tires with the same size and good reviews on it. The treadware rating is very very high compared to the other tires in the same category.
