FS: D16 40mm Differential with Phantom Grip LSD Conversion
I've had this for about 6 years now, but I'm going for a lot more power so I upgraded to a new LSD. This is a stock 40mm differential, it has newer bearings and speedo gear. It also has a Phantom Grip conversion (part# 736-902-GOLD).
A lot of people have their options about this, but in my experience this was a great upgrade. I had the spider gears milled flat and to the correct clearance like Phantom Grip says, which I think is one reason why it worked so good for me. My best 60' times at the track on 195 street tires where 2.0-2.1 average and a few times I got a 1.9X time. With other similar cars with stock diffs I would only get a 2.1 on a good day.
I think it's much better than those cheap OBX or no-name ebay LSD's. I've never had a single issue with this. Since it is basically still a stock differential, and from my experience anywhere north of 350whp there is a chance of breaking it, I wanted to upgrade to a full LSD setup. This is great for low boost or NA, get some cheap traction. Doesn't come with ring gear or bolts.
The Phantom Grip fits a lot of other differentials including D16A1, B18A/B, F22, and more. Just look up the part number. So you could take it out and put it in another differential if you wanted.
I originally paid close to $300 for the Phantom Grip, and probably $50 for the bearings and speedo gear, so I figure $190 shipped is fair but open to offers.
