Re: rear quarter panel rust..what can i do?
well you have a few options
1st of all rust never goes away and always comes back.
if you really want to get rid of it.
i would cut it out and weld in a new piece of metal.
What you could use for metal is part of a old fender to a civic.
reason why its got the same flare and curves to it and all you would have to do is weld it in place and do light bodywork
but i've been doing bodywork for almost 8 years
i'm almost pos there's gonna be holes in the metal.
but you wont really know tilll you take a grinder to the metal.
here's what you could do.
take off the rear bumper and get a grainder and grind down all the rust to bair metal. then sandblast it and get all the rust out as you can.
featheredge it out and give it a light skim of duraglass and then some bodybiller or icing then primer it and paint it yourself or have someone paint it.
but agian its harde to say with out being there behind the grinder
a bodyshop would easily charge you $600-$800 to fix it.
my advice is to take it to someone local who does it on the side.
but do reserach before you go to them ask for before and after pics and ask for past references.
or you could do it yourself.
if you need advice on how to do it yourself let me know i'd be happy to help you
if you bought the materials you needed such as paint, clear, primer it would be around $200
white paint is the cheapest
the pics below i cut the metal out and used part of a fender and wedled it in place
