Default hatchback quarter glass mask or replace?

1992 honda civic hatchback.
I recently have had my car looked at by 4 different body shops for estimates on a paint job and got roughly the same estimates which was not surprising. Two shops though want to remove the rear quarter windows. Im not totally against the idea except safelite will probably be doing it so I am certain they will probably mess up the two rubber pieces around the glass.

1st question: Do I really have to remove the rear glass for a decent paint job it seems like I might be able to get away without doing so?
2nd question: I see that you can buy the rubber seal for the glass online about 55 a piece. How hard would it be to replace them on the quarter glass they look like they fit pretty tight around it.

they can mask it, you are looking for trouble by taking out that old glass

I'll just tell them to leave it be I figured it would end up causing issues. Out of curiosity what kind of trouble would they run into probably?

the old seals won't fit right anymore, and aftermarket ones are never right, plus the glass is stressed over time, leave it where it is it's fine, take it out and reinstall it with new seals, and it likely will crack in time. It takes a set in there over the years. The same thing happens sometimes when you take out a glued in windshield, and install it on another car. You think it's hard finding parts for that one, try finding glass seals for an 86, basically the glass is installed under pressure, and over the years it develops micro cracks, they don't hurt anything, but when you release the pressure and then reapply it with different seals, those cracks can start to propagate
