k20a2 swap - power issues
hey fellas, I have a stock k20a2 swapped into my EL with full ktuned swap kit and I've been dealing with some power surges/fluxuations for some time now.
The only codes it was throwing a few months back was the secondary o2 (not installed) and an ELD (as a result of the secondary o2 code).
What happens is it will intermittently run totally fine as it should, then suddenly I'll give it a punch but it's struggles to accelerate. it doesnt sputter/misfire, just takes forever to climb the revs. I'll shift, then for some reason the power will be back for the next gear.
I checked the plugs: fine. replaced the ktuned inline fuel filter which was a little dirty, and the engine seemed to run perfectly for about a week until the problem came back today.
I'm at a loss for figuring this out and it's damn frustrating. I have a walbro 255 pump that i intend on replacing the original pump but doubt it will solve the problem.
Any ideas?

Re: k20a2 swap - power issues
are you running a stock ecu, KPRO, or some other ecu?
sounds like ecu tuning needs to be done....such as disabling the 2nd 02 and other ill-required settings for K-swaps in legacy chassis's.

Re: k20a2 swap - power issues
thanks Katman, I appreciate it!
I actually found the culprit on sunday: finally dropped in my walbro 255 and the engine works better than ever. lesson learned: dont trust 13 year old fuel pumps.
all that being said, i totally agree with you and kpro is next on the list to get her running happy and safe.
hope this helps anyone who may run into this problem down the road, i was very lucky to find the problem this easily.
