Axles keep coming loose!!!???
ok i just put 92 Ls swap in my 90 Dx hatch...used the stock LS axles...
my problem is...they keep coming loose on the hub...i tightened the hub nut with an impact at 500lbs of tourque...keep coming loose....
are the axles different for each side...and would that cause them to come loose if in the wrong side???
any ideas of why this would happen???
thanks!!!

Re: Axles keep coming loose!!!??? (Kamin)
ok well i think i found the problem....i took out my drivers axle...because it just didn't seem right...it was all loose at the joint...so i get it out and pull the boot off the end that goes in the Jack Shaft...and voilaa.....the joint is in like 40 little pieces....i think the vibration from that is loosening up that nut...because the other side doesn't come loose....so i'm gonna buy a axle and see what happens...
and use LOCK TIGHT this time!!!

ok well i'm pretty sure my axle joint isn't suppose to be all busted up either...
and i've always used a gun with all my other axles including the pass side on this one and they never come loose...but after i get a new axle i'll try the tourque wrench...but my guess is that the broken axle is where the vibration is coming from...
thanks!

Re: Axles keep coming loose!!!??? (VTEC93hatch)
well yes it is the broken axle
but its very important not to use a gun when torquing the axle nut down.
i dont know exactally why
buy the helms specifically says "do not use an impact gun"

you get a bigger torque wrench.
lol, no no, just use ur *** dyno and guess
buy a good torque wrench, its the only way to go, dont guess when it comes to torque specs...

Re: Axles keep coming loose!!!??? (deviant1)
you shouldnt have to use locktite. just torque it to the correct spec then bend the lip on the nut. it probably broke because of that 500ftlb impact gun you were using. use a 1/4" drive tq wrench.
