The rattling noise does not appear when I give the car normal throttle, but if I quickly tap the peddle (like jackrabbit start) then let off I hear this rattle, it seems to be coming from near the intake manifold.

This would not be a knock would it? Cause it would be constant right? And it sounds like it comes from the top of the motor.

I can try to get my camera out and record it when it stops raining too.

Make sure your using 89 octane and up. I ran 87 octane when I first bought my lude and it had the same problem your having. Changed to higher octane and hasnt done it since.

I also tried 87 octane with octane booster and still got knock.

i put a few gallons of regular in it so that does make sense now that i think about it

Knocking will be apparent while on load.............
It could be the auto tensioner on its way out, keep a check on!

i get the same noise, i swapped my motor in september h22a4 for h22a4 cause my first one spun a bearing. on the one thats in it now if i do the same thing i hear a slight knocking noise too. but when i drive at normal speed and higher rpms then 1000 it goes away only when i do a slight tap on the pedel.

you should only run 91 and up on h22s for best results

Could be detonation (pinging) from high timing, low octane gas, or a combination of both.
