Is VTEC engagement louder depending on the gear?
I had my accord h22 hybrid with AT coverted to MT. Vtec engagement as an automatic was at 5500 rpm and sounded and felt really loud. Now ever since my car was converted to mt, vtec engagement is at 5000 rpm and doesn't seem as loud and noticeable as it did when it was AT. Does vtec engagment feel and sound vary depending on the gear of the manual tranny?
The engine runs very well and has no check engine lights but i was just curious to know if as a mt, vtec engagement is generally a bit quieter and less noticeable than a h22 with at. Also, i have been told that when vtec engages at a higher rpm, it will be louder. So, in my particular case, when my car was at, vtec kicked in at 5500 rpm and now as a mt it kicks in at 5000rpm.
Any feedback will be appreciated.

couldn't tell you about an auto...
My with my lude (mt) it's always kicked in right at 5k. It's always been decently loud. Once it was built, it really made some noise. When I gutted the cat... it SCREAMED and spit flames.

oh.. and the tranny shouldn't have any effect on noise. the "vtec" you hear is just the sound of the lobes opening up the valves more...

It will be louder in 3rd gear then 1st, mainly because there is more load on your motor in the higher gears..
