Reasons for running rich...
What could be some reasons as to why my car is running very rich all of a sudden?
Are there any parts on H22's that often go bad that I should replace regularly that could have cause the engine to run really rich all of a sudden? -Thanks-

it would be more than likely the vacumm line to the fpr than the fpr itsself, like a tiny hole a old and cracking, or still possibly your o2?

if you're going by an A/F's reading, it's possible your connection broke or came undone. This would cause most A/F meters to read fully rich, but it would tend to stay there rather than bounce (unless it's a loose connection)

02 sensor or maybe your ecu is messed up!! my computer was bad in my civic and it caused it to blow black (residue .. soot) crap all over my rear of my car..

The ecu is good and no CEL on (which would lead me to belive that the O2 sensor is good). As for the A/F meter, I don't have one. Just boost and Oil pressure. riend suggested that it might be bad fuel (mixed with water). I did get some fuel at a Wal-Mart gas station (even though it was 93 octane anyway). What do you guys think?

I always wonder about those black dots on my bumper... didn't really realize that I was running rich... now I know is just a factory thing... I don't get it all the time but here and there on some days...

I know running a little on the rich side isn't bad but this is rediculous. The car actually starts now but when it does: 1.) it sounds like a freakin old *** domestic V8 and 2.) you can smell fuel almost instantly within a radius of 6ft. from the car. What else could it be?.....Ignition?

Fuel leak, check you fittings. If you can smell fuel outside of your car thats bad. Have you pulled the plugs to see if there fouled or smell like gas? If they do smell like gas check your ignition.

I've checked the plugs and they are virtually dripping with fuel after you start then turn off the car. My guess is Ignition or distributor. There are no fuel leaks.
