Oil Dipsticks.....
Are the dipsticks different from different years ? I am using a dipstick from a 97-01 h22a4 in an h22a. The level when i fill it with 5.1 quarts always comes up high. Im not sure why.

is the dipstick tube the same length? if the tube is an inch shorter too, it would yield the same capacity.
i know the 92 H22A dipstick is 1/2" shorter than the H23, however i didn't measure the dip tubes

the vtec models are the same.
94 vtec = 15650-P5M-000
94 si = 15650-P14-A00
98 vtec = 15650-P5M-000

That's wierd that the 94 vtec has a P5M parts code. The P5M designation wouldn't have come to exist until the intro of the 5th gen. The 4g part must have been superceded, but nonetheless, the oil pan dimensions and disptick length had to have always been the same if they're using the same part now.

No...they aren't.....
And if its not the difference between 4th and 5th gen, its USDM vs JDM with the JDM being longer....All H22 dipsticks ARE NOT the same. When I bought a brand new one from Honda it said P5M and was about 1" shorter than the JDM H22 one that was on the engine.
If someone could help the process, please measure the actual stick length for a USDM 5th gen and USDM 4th genVTEC....I will measure my JDM H22A and USDM H22A4 stick tonight.
JDM H22A: Blade=18.25" Overall=21.25" DS tube distance from top of VC=3"
USDM H22A1: (?)
USDM H22A4: (?)
The 2 different ones that I have read 1qt off each other....
Post of mine from last year, but the pics are down....

Just brainstorming right now......I am very curious to what is going on.
Top is H22A1-P13 bottom is H22A4-P5M
You can cleary see if you use an H22A4-P5M dipstick in an H22A1, you will overfill by 1 quart.......</TD></TR></TABLE>

I got tied up this weekend but I will try to do it tonight. I will take pics of the H22A4 and H22A dipstick side by side. I had a pic up on my last post....I deleted it though.
Can someone measure their H22A1 with the 3 measurements I have above?
I also need an H22A4 DS tube to VC distance.
***Thanks guys***
And I love how people stay away form a post once they are proven wrong.... Checking part #'s FTL!

Yah, correct oil level isn't important especially when youre talking a QT over.....
H22A4=21" overall and 17.5" blade length
H22A4=21" overall and 17.5" blade length

Re: Oil Dipsticks..... (kornerk12)
Ugh, drama. Well if it matters to anyone I can measure my '93 dipstick when I get the chance...if I can remember to do it this weekend. come to think My H23A doesn't have a dipstick. I hope I can use one form a 98+ block.
