ok, here is my predicament. the tranny has taken a dump. so a five spd is on the way. but while it is down, i figured id go boost. and all i hear is the ringlands on my pistons break somethign seriously if over 7-8 psi. so i found some nice mahle pistons an rings, pins, whole nine yards.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ZEX-8...Q5fAccessories

according to the description, i can use them without sleeving the block(yay me). how hard is it to do? i got access to a loaded shop but if i wanna save money i gotta do it myself. i can tear down and replace anything in a honda motor but ive never replaced pistons onto factory rods.

o, and is tht all i have to change to get away with safely boosting 7-8 psi? i know i aint going higher because my injectors wont handle it(550cc evo). ram horn style manifold. t3 super 60 turbo. p28 chipped and tuned locally.

Factory rods ? No, not with Mahle pistons. Get some aftermarket rods while you're tearing the block down. Your questions have been answered in the FI Mahle thread. Oh, and as far as your injectors not handling more boost, I predict that you'll swap out injectors to something bigger shortly after you boost. If that's the only thing holding you back from increasing boost pressure, then my prediction will hold true, you'll soon learn that boost is very addicting. ..Good luck with your build, Mahle is a good choice for FRM sleeved blocks, read the FI Mahle thread as a start.

his 550s will handle his low-mid boost application just fine. His DC shouldn't be more than80% I would think.

With obd1 vtec injectors at 6-7 psi using Crome my DC was at approx. 92% @ 7000rpms (not that i'd run the injectors that hard or rev that high)
