H22a Thermostat Temp

H22a Thermostat Temp
I am getting ready to change the thermostat out on my sons Prelude and was wondering what temp thermostat to get? The parts counter recommends the 170 degree thermostat and I guess that is what the OEM says to use. I think my sons is stuck shut since I warmed the car's radiator up to 180 degrees and the thermostat never opened.
The other question was what does temp thermostat does the JDM H22a normally come with?

I believe 170* is where the thermostat begins to open and isnt fully open until 190 or so. either way just get an oem honda thermostat part# 19301-p13-305.
during your test the thermostat should have been at least partially open by 180. it is easy to spot a bad thermostat because the top rad hose will get very hot while the bottom is still ice cold.
